So, when Modi and Trump sit down for talks, India will have to be extra careful. The US might push India to lower its tariffs on American goods or buy more from US companies. In return, India will likely try to secure benefits, possibly in defense and energy deals.
Trump’s “America First” Approach
- Another big change? Trump signed a new executive order reinforcing his “America First” policy in foreign affairs. It’s basically a message to the world that the US will always put its own interests first.
- The order says that “No longer will America be taken advantage of by foreign nations or rogue actors who undermine our sovereignty or security.”

Former Vice President Mike Pence warned:“Mr. President, Ukraine will only ‘be Russian someday’ if the United States abandons them to Putin’s brutal invasion.” - He and many others believe that if the US doesn’t stand strong with Ukraine, Russia might get even bolder and attack NATO allies next. That would force the US to step in militarily, leading to an even bigger crisis.
- John Bolton, Trump’s former National Security Advisor, also slammed the decision, saying:
“Trump has effectively surrendered to Putin on Ukraine. The harm to US security interests will extend well beyond Central Europe.”Clearly, Trump’s move isn’t just about Russia and Ukraine—it’s making waves across the entire world.
